10-07-2012 · problem with portal tek stuff was the portal gear reduction. you really need to run a 3:1 ring and pinion (or numerically lower) to have a usable final drive ratio. 07-07-2010 · Portal Tek is out of business. The Lower 40 had standard axles. The Mopar Immortal that was shown last Moab has a set of Powerwagon axles under it that have been modified by Dynatrac with Axle Tech portal boxes. These axles are absolutely huge and in our opinion way too heavy for a JK, not to mention the extra foot in width.
